Miles McBride was not fully healthy during Knicks' championship run.
Last postseason, the New York Knicks made a dominant run to the championship as they were able to win 13 consecutive games on their way to holding up the Larry O’ Brien trophy.
New York was able to shoot three-pointers and get out in transition, and their efficient shooting made it a tall task for teams to be able to defend them.
One player who had his share of production and big moments was Miles McBride. McBride is someone who can shoot the ball very well for the Knicks and is also a capable defender on the perimeter.
Ken Blaze-Imagn ImagesThe highlight of his postseason came in game four of the second round against the Philadelphia 76ers, where he shot 7 of 9 from three point range and finished with 25 points.
McBride recently spoke about his experience in the playoffs last season and how he dealt with an injury throughout it.
In the middle of last season, Miles McBride had to get sports hernia surgery, which kept him out for an extended period of time. He came back a few weeks before the playoffs and said he was “50 percent healthy.”
Geoff Burke-Imagn ImagesWhile McBride’s stats don’t jump out of the stat sheet, he made an impact on the perimeter in each series. He stepped up and hit shots that turned the tide in certain games, which allowed the Knicks to pull away.
Luckily for McBride, he never reaggravated his injury and was as healthy as he could be. He was a crucial part of the Knicks’ offensive attack and stepped up into a role where he was needed.
Next season, McBride will have to continue to play that role where he can be a reliable shooter and make big shots for New York. If he can stay healthy, the Knicks could see similar success in 2026.
Kyle Ross-Imagn ImagesThis Knicks team feeds off playing fast and shooting the ball efficiently, and having players like Miles McBride and Landry Shamet on the roster is what sets them apart because they can play the role so well.
Miles McBride is also beloved by Knicks fans, who chant “Deuce” every time he shoots because of his nickname. After a championship season, there may be a sense of urgency for McBride to perform well and stay healthy to continue the success of last season.
The Knicks have a deep roster, and if Miles McBride can step up and stay healthy again, they could find themselves right where they were last season.
