New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson has been one of the most underrated players on the team.

Mitchell Robinson may not get the praise that Jalen Brunson or the rest of the Knicks starters receive, but he's one of the most underrated players in New York.

Coming off the bench, Robinson somehow found a way to average 8.8 rebounds in only 19.6 minutes. That efficiency only continued throughout the playoffs as he had numerous clutch rebounding moments that saved countless Knicks' possessions.

In Game 5 alone, Robinson had 10 rebounds off the bench in 20 minutes, and also averaged 5.6 in only 13 minutes against the Spurs in the finals overall.

Robinson's career has been filled with ups and downs, with numerous big injuries along the way. Last season alone, he only played in 17 games for the Knicks. However, throughout it all, the franchise and its fans didn't leave Robinson behind.

For that, the big man wanted to express his gratitude.

Mitchell Robinson's Emotional Tribute

While posting on Instagram, Robinson addressed all the battles he's dealt with mentally while dealing with injuries, and made sure to let fans know just how grateful he was.

"I don’t even know where to begin the battles, the sacrifices, the mental breakdown, the disbelief in myself, the injuries, the surgeries, the mistakes and to be able to stay strong and bounce back from being in hell was all worth the ride," Robinson said.

It's not always easy being a Mitchell Robinson fan from a basketball perspective. He hasn't been able to hit free throws, shooting a career low at 40.8% this season, and has barely been able to stay healthy in the previous two seasons. Yet despite that, it was all worth it as Robinson ended up being a big piece of an NBA championship.

"I appreciate the fans and my friends and family for helping me get through all of that while fighting to get it done the sacrifices yall made for me throughout the years will never go unnoticed and unappreciated I can’t thank you all enough for everything y’ll got me through," Robinson concluded.

Mitchell Robinson's Upcoming Contract

Robinson was currently on a four-year, $60 million contract with the New York Knicks. However, he's set to be an unrestricted free agent next season, and it's going to be a major domino that the Knicks need to figure out.

While the Knicks may be deservedly celebrating their NBA championship right now, they're going to have to solve how to get Robinson back on the team very soon.

Unfortunately, with the modern CBA, it's become an all-too-common problem for championship teams to suddenly lose key pieces as they can no longer afford them. Hopefully, that doesn't happen to Robinson.
