The New York Knicks are headed to the NBA Finals fo the first time since 1999.
The Knicks have had one of their best seasons in franchise history, winning 53 games in the regular season, their most since 2012-13, and winning the NBA Cup for the first time ever.
They've been the most dominant team in the playoffs, going 12-2 thus far with both losses coming in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks. Those losses came by one point each.
Since the loss to the Hawks in game three of the first round, the Knicks have won 11 straight games to find themselves in the Finals.
OG Anunoby Speaks
The Knicks punched their ticket to the finals with a dominant performance over the Cleveland Cavaliers in game four, winning 130-93.
In the four-game sweep of the Cavs, the Knicks won by an average of 19.3 points, with all four games being double-digit victories, including an 11-point win in overtime in game one.
Speaking after game four, Knicks forward OG Anunoby said, "It feels good. We're excited. We're happy we won, but we're also not satisfied."
The Knicks have little reason to be satisfied because in the words of Kobe Bryant, the job is not done.
Anunoby returned from a hamstring injury that cost him two games in the second round, and struggled in the first two games of the series, but found his rhythm in the last two.
In the four games against the Cavaliers, OG averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 47% from the field and 36% from three. As usual, he was a defensive anchor, helping contain James Harden and Donovan Mitchell.
Not Satisfied
When the Knicks won the NBA Cup in December, they opted not to hang a banner in Madison Square Garden.
The NBA Cup has only been around for three years, but the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks both opted to hang banners to celebrated their in-season tournament victories.
The Knicks decision made their message clear months ago: they were looking for a bigger banner.
Since the start of the season, and certainly since winning the NBA Cup, the Knicks goal has been an NBA Championship.
They are now four wins away from that goal and will either see the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the finals or the San Antonio Spurs, who the Knicks beat in the NBA Cup finals.
