OG Anunoby is looking forward.
The New York Knicks have rightfully been enjoying winning the 2026 NBA Finals all offseason, but now the regular season is almost back again and they still have work to do to stay on top of the basketball world.
The way that the Knicks won that championship was as thrilling and emotionally draining as a playoff run could be after they went on a historic 13-game playoff winning streak, then faced the powerhouse San Antonio Spurs and found themselves coming from behind in every single game to take the series in five, including a 29-point comeback, the largest in NBA Finals history, in Game 4.

Scott Wachter-Imagn ImagesOG Anunoby was an integral part of that comeback for a handful of reasons, but most famously because of his now-iconic tip-in to give the Knicks the lead in the final seconds of the game and seal the win, but as great as that moment was for Anunoby and the Knicks, Anunoby is ready for the next challenge and to make the Knicks the first back-to-back NBA champions since the Golden State Warriors in 2017-18.
Looking Ahead
"I'm not over it [the tip-in] as if I don't care about it. It's more about that I'm ready for the next season," Anunoby said (via Hoops Hype). "It was fun winning a championship. It was amazing. But we all want to do it again."

Geoff Burke-Imagn ImagesDoing it again won't be easy, winning a championship never is, but the Knicks are in as good of a position as any past champion to make another run. They've kept the majority of their championship roster in tact after free agency and added Andre Drummond to be a solid second option at center behind Karl-Anthony Towns, which should help their size problem.
Still, the Eastern Conference has gotten better as have teams like the Los Angeles Lakers while the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs still stand out as the top-two threats in the league to the Knicks' spot on the top of the league.

But momentum is a real thing in the NBA and winning a historic championship is about as good of a way to generate momentum as there is and for the Knicks, who made an underdog mentality their superpower, having momentum on their side could be a recipe for great things.
The regular season is fast approaching and for the Knicks, the season is nothing but the potential for something great.
