Gabe Vincent decided not to join the Knicks.
This offseason, the goal for the New York Knicks was to bring back key players after winning the NBA Championship a season ago. Their only notable loss was center Mitchell Robinson, but other than him, the Knicks have essentially the same team.
After losing players who were on the bench, the attention now goes to filling out those roster spots for training camp. There have been reports of multiple players who are contending for those last spots on the Knicks roster, and one of them is a veteran guard with some postseason experience.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, former Lakers, Heat, and Hawks guard Gabe Vincent had an opportunity to sign with the Knicks and be one of those players in the mix to get a roster spot before the season, but he wanted an opportunity where it's more likely he makes a roster.

He's a veteran who can shoot the ball and set others up for success when needed. He would likely not have played much if signed, but he could step into that role if needed.
To fill out the roster, the Knicks still need a veteran wing. This is a team that is projected to be one of the top teams in the NBA in 2026-2027, and the more veterans who are prepared to fit into their roles and help this team make a deep playoff run, the better.
As for Gabe Vincent, there are still teams in the NBA that could use his veteran presence. Teams like the Orlando Magic or Boston Celtics could keep Vincent as an option off the bench, and those are teams that could use more help offensively as well.

They also have young players in Tyler Nickel and Tyler Kolek who are developing, and the Knicks will try to make sure they hit their ceilings as players.
The regular season is approaching, and many veterans are looking to find homes across the NBA. New York is hopeful they land a good fit for the roster, and it could set them up for success late next season.
