The New York Knicks are off to a slow start but are capable of turning things around.

The New York Knicks are through their first six games of the 2026-2027 regular season and hold a 2-4 record. The Knicks have not looked like the same dominant team from their championship run in June, and they have had multiple missed opportunities in the games they've lost.

New York has lost multiple games in the second half, and last season, those were situations where they would thrive because of the performances of star player Jalen Brunson. While Brunson is off to a great start to the season individually, averaging 25.5 points per game, other players on the team have been inconsistent.

The Knicks have had their shooting struggles early on this season, with some players getting off to cold starts. One of them is forward Mikal Bridges, who is shooting 33.3 percent from the field and is averaging just 6.2 points per game.

The cold shooting from New York has put them in tough situations late in games, and it has caused them to fall behind early. Still, the issues this team has faced up to this point are fixable, and the championship pedigree this team has can help them turn things around.

The Knicks' current roster looks very similar to their championship roster from June, and even though they have not looked the same at the start of their season, they are very capable of returning back to their 2026 postseason form.

One of New York's early wins this year came against the Chicago Bulls, and it was a game in which they were down by 19 points. In their championship run, we saw the Knicks come back from multiple big deficits, and they showed in this game that they can still get back in games and take control.

This team has experienced a lot of winning, but things have not always been perfect for them. This Knicks core has seen dry spells and losing streaks, and they have gotten out of these situations before.

The leadership of Jalen Brunson could be enough to turn things around in the young season. He played that role in the Knicks' championship run, and if he can find a way to rally this roster again, they could find themselves atop the Eastern Conference again.

New York has seen the emergence of young guard Tyler Kolek this season, and maybe his high level of play is what can give this team a spark moving forward.

Overall, many of the Knicks' issues are self-inflicted, and it's not time to hit the panic button just yet on this team. Their next game will be at home against the Brooklyn Nets Monday night, and it will be a chance for them to get a convincing win against a struggling Brooklyn team at home.
