Lakers In Jeopardy Of Missing Two Stars On Injury Report vs Spurs cover image

The Los Angeles Lakers are in jeopardy of missing two of their top stars on the injury report versus the San Antonio Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, extending their winning streak to three games as they turn over a new leaf after their rough 1-4 stretch to close out 2025. Looking to remain perfect in the new year and extend their winning streak to four games, the Lakers face the San Antonio Spurs in the second half of their back-to-back.

Despite all the weaknesses the Lakers still clearly have, they enter Wednesday's NBA slate as the third seed in the Western Conference, and will face a Spurs team that sits just one game ahead of them as the second seed. With potential for some shift in the conference standings, the Lakers could be at a disadvantage, according to the current injury report.

Lakers Injury Report

The Lakers' injury report on Wednesday features some key players, with Rui Hachimura (calf), Austin Reaves (calf), and Adou Thiero (MCL) all listed as OUT. For Hachimura, it'll be his fifth-straight contest sidelined this season, last appearing in the team's 125-101 win over the Sacramento Kings.

For Reaves, it'll be his sixth-straight game sidelined, but he only appeared in two games before being sidelined again. Reaves was putting up All-NBA level stats at the beginning of the season, but injuries will likely hold him back from a first career All-Star appearance.

Lastly, LeBron James (foot/Sciatica) is listed as QUESTIONABLE, as the team will evaluate whether he will play the second leg of a back-to-back. After the team's win over the Pelicans on Tuesday, James told the media, "Every back-to-back for the rest of the season is TBD. I am 41. I got the most minutes in NBA history. Bank it right now."

If James is unable to suit up, the weight on Luka Doncic's shoulders only increases, while players like Jake LaRavia, Deandre Ayton, and Nick Smith Jr. will have to step up offensively.

Spurs Injury Report

San Antonio's injury report has only ruled OUT one player so far, with that being guard Devin Vassell, who is dealing with an adductor strain.

The other three players are listed as QUESTIONABLE, with that being Harrison Ingram (two-way), Stanley Umude (two-way), and Victor Wembanyama (knee). Wembanyama came off the bench in Tuesday's contest against the Memphis Grizzlies, and may likely do so again if he suits up the San Antonio on Wednesday.

Tip-off is set in San Antonio for 9:30 p.m. EST, as the Lakers will look to secure their 24th win of the season.
