Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James responds to the controversial ESPN report regarding Jeanie Buss

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most prominent sports franchises, not just in North American sports but across the globe. Legends of the game, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Kobe Bryant, have suited up for the purple and gold, and LeBron James might just be the biggest name of the group.

After leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to an NBA Finals victory, James decided in the 2018 offseason to make what many believe is the final decision of his career in joining the Lakers. In just his second season, he'd lead the team to an NBA title over the Miami Heat, but James' presence wasn't loved by all in the organization.

LeBron Responds To Controversial Article

In an article from ESPN released earlier this week, it was revealed that there were some problems between LeBron James and former owner Jeanie Buss. Issues included Buss not feeling LeBron was "grateful" for the selection of Bronny James, as well as problems with his ego.

Following the Lakers' loss on Thursday night to the LA Clippers, James was asked about the article and reports from it, responding as many could've expected from the NBA star.

"I don't really care about the reports, to be honest...At the end of the day, when I came to this organization, my whole mindset was about restoring excellence...And I was able to do that along with 16 other guys, winning a championship here," James said.

With James presumptively in the final years of his career, it's not a surprise to see him not taking an interest in reports. At the end of the day, he's continuing to play strong basketball for the Lakers, and his focus likely is set on winning games more than anything else at this point.

"That's always been my mindset. Quite frankly, I don't care really about articles, I don't care about podcasts and all that type of [expletive]. I'm 41 years old, and I watch golf every day," he added.

Whether or not the reports about the relationship between Jeanie Buss and LeBron are true, the reality is that Mark Walter has taken over as the new majority owner of the team while Buss still remains involved with operations. While she might have some say, it's Walter's team now.

Especially with the Lakers having six games left on their eight-game road trip, that is likely far more concerning to LeBron than what's going on off the court that's outside of his control. With the team eyeing a return soon from Austin Reaves, they'll hope his return to the lineup can boost their case for a title run this season.
