LeBron James speaks after the Lakers lose game two to the Thunder.
The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in an 0-2 hole against the Oklahoma City Thunder after losing game two, 125-107.
With SGA on the bench, the Thunder depth players made an impact, led by Ajay Mitchell, Jarred McCain, and Chet Holmgren. The Thunder took the lead with Shai on the bench and never looked back.
Officiating Issues
Much of the conversation after the game revolved around the officiating and the inconsistencies regarding the whistle. Lakers head coach JJ Redick and star players LeBron James and Austin Reaves were visibly upset and having conversations with officials throughout the game.
Redick received a technical foul in the first half after arguing about calls that weren't made.
The Thunder had their complaints as well, with Alex Caruso receiving a technical foul for arguing the flagrant foul on Shai and arguing against calls that went against them, even after video review.
After the game, Lakers players gathered the referees and spoke with them at center court. Reaves was seemingly leading the conversations.
After the game, LeBron was asked about the officiating.
"We're down 2-0," he said.
Asked about the conversations that stars have with officials and if he's satisfied with the answers he received, he simply replied, "No."
Redick spoke about the officiating after the game, saying that LeBron has always had the worst whistle of any star due to his size and physicality.
Asked if he had any thoughts as to what his head coach had to say and why he thinks he gets the whistle he does, he replied, "I don't know."
LeBron's Whistle
Despite constantly attacking the rim throughout his career, LeBron has never led the league in free throws attempted per game. He tied with Kevin Durant in 2009-2010 when they both averaged 10.2 attempts per game.
He's averaged over 10 free throw attempts per game just three times in his career. By comparison, James Harden has been over 10 attempts seven times in his career, and Luka Doncic has been over ten twice in his career, despite playing eight seasons compared to LeBron's 23.
Through two games in this series, LeBron has taken just five total free throws.
If the Lakers want to get back into the series, they'll need more than free throws, as they've lost both games by 18 points.
