The Los Angeles Lakers will be without their three best players on Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers didn't make many moves at the trade deadline, with their one deal being the acquisition of Luke Kennard from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Gabe Vincent and a future second-round pick. An elite shooter and solid playmaker, the Lakers will have to find solutions internally if they want to make a deep run.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a positive sign for the Lakers on Monday night, losing 119-110 at home to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as Jalen Williams led the way with 23 points. That was just the start of a back-to-back, though, as they return to action with an injury-riddled lineup on Tuesday night.

Awaiting them is the San Antonio Spurs, so it would've been a tough contest without the injuries.

Lakers Injury Report

The Lakers will be without their three best players on Tuesday night, as Luka Doncic (hamstring), LeBron James (foot), and Austin Reaves (calf) are all listed as OUT.

It'll be just the second time this season the Lakers have played without their big three, dating back to November 3rd when they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 123-115, as Deandre Ayton's 29-point, 10-rebound performance led the way.

While that could be the case again on Tuesday, there's no guarantee that Ayton plays, as he's listed as QUESTIONABLE with right knee soreness. It's been a rough season for Ayton after starting the year off hot, as he's now averaging 9.0 points and 7.3 rebounds through four games in February.

The other name listed is veteran guard Marcus Smart, as he will be OUT as well, dealing with right ankle soreness.

If Ayton is to be ruled out, that means the Lakers would be without five of their six players who average the most minutes per game.

Spurs Injury Report

It's nearly a completely opposite situation for the Spurs, who have ruled OUT all three of their two-way players in Harrison Ingram, David Jones Garcia, and Stanley Umude. The only standard contract player listed as OUT is Lindy Waters III, who is dealing with hyperextension in his left knee.

Game Preview

The Lakers will simply need some magic and a lot of luck to go their way to stay competitive in this game. Not only are Doncic, Reaves, and LeBron their three best players, but they are really the only three players that serve as playmakers on this team.

The Spurs are riding a four-game winning streak, with Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama averaging 24 and 23 points per game, respectively. Factor in the likes of De'Aaron Fox, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Dylan Harper, and this Spurs team has a clear path to victory at this moment.

Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. EST at the Crypto.com Arena in Downtown Los Angeles.
