The Los Angeles Lakers look to protect home court when they host the Houston Rockets for game two of their first round series.
The Lakers won game one, 107-98, stifling the Rockets offense in the second and third quarters. The game was close throughout, but the Lakers were able to pull away in the third quarter and then maintain their lead in the fourth. The Lakers were helped by hot and timely three point shooting, knocking down 10 of their 19 attempts, and shooting 61% overall from the field.
The Lakers lead the series 1-0. Game two takes place at Crypto.com Arena and will start at 10:30 PM ET.
Los Angeles Lakers Injury Report
Luka Doncic is OUT with a left hamstring strain. Doncic suffered the injury on April 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder after playing 26 minutes in the contest. On April 14, it was reported that Doncic would be reevaluated on that day, but there have been no further updates on his status.
He played 64 games this year, averaging 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists.
Austin Reaves is OUT with a left oblique muscle strain. He was also injured on April 2 against the Thunder. The team has given no further updates on his status. He averaged 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 51 games this season.
Luke Kennard led the team in scoring in game one, finishing with 27 points and knocking down all five of his three point attempts. He also had four rebounds and three assists.
LeBron James was two rebounds away from a double double, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds, and 13 assists.
All five Lakers starters were in double figures.
Houston Rockets Injury Report
Kevin Durant is QUESTIONABLE with a right knee contusion. Durant ended up missing game one of the series. In 78 games during the regular season, Durant averaged 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. He is expected to be a game-time decision.
Steve Adams is OUT after undergoing season-ending left ankle surgery. In 32 games, he averaged 5.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
Fred VanVleet is OUT after undergoing season-ending ACL surgery just before the season. He did not play this season and won't return for the playoffs.
With Durant sidelined, no Houston player scored over 20 points. Alperen Sengun led them in scoring with 19 points on 19 field goal attempts. Amen Thompson had 17 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Reed Sheppard also had 17 points.
