Luka Doncic continues to make history.
Luka Doncic had one of the best seasons of his already stellar career in the 2025-26 season and with it being his first full season in a Los Angeles Lakers' uniform, he certainly asserted his place in Los Angeles basketball lore.
He led the league in scoring with 33.5 points per game, was third in average assists at 8.3 per game and added 7.7 rebounds per game as well.
He shot 47.6% from the field and 36.6% from three point range, though the sheer volume of threes he attempted per game balanced out and amounted to four three pointers per game, second only behind Steph Curry.

Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn ImagesFor much of the season, Doncic looked like the best player in the NBA and was often involved in MVP conversations.
Ultimately, he left out of the top three of MVP contention behind Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic and the eventual-winner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but that doesn't mean that Doncic's stellar season went unrecognized.
Doncic Awarded
Doncic was named to the All-NBA First Team for the sixth time in his career and for the first time as a Laker. He joined those top three MVP candidates and Cade Cunningham on the First Team.
His First Team selection puts him in historic territory as he became just the fifth player in NBA history to have at least six First Team selections by age 27, joining Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Bob Pettit and his Lakers teammate LeBron James as the only players to do so.
Donicic received 91 First Team votes and nine Second Team votes for an overall total of 482 points, fourth-most on the list.
Considering Doncic's MVP trajectory throughout the season and the level that he was playing at as the Lakers' first option, such a selection isn't a surprise, but there's a still lot more left to be done in Doncic's career.
What's Next?
He's still hunting for his first MVP award, though that competition is looking increasingly stiff considering Gilgeous-Alexander's current reign, Jokic's presence and the rapid rise of Wembanyama, who's just 22-years-old and clearly hungry to rule over the rest of the league.
But, if anyone in the league is up for such a challenge, it's Doncic.

Troy Taormina-Imagn ImagesThere's one more achievement that he's hunting for that may mean more than any First Team selection or MVP award, and that's a championship.
He's made it all the way to the Finals once before in his career, in 2024 with the Dallas Mavericks, and the Lakers came up short in the Western Conference Semifinals while Doncic was forced to sit out with an injury, but with more of his career in front of him than behind him, Doncic still has time to build out his trophy case even more.
For now, he'll have to settle with a historic First Team selection.
