Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic was on a different level against the Orlando Magic.
When the Los Angeles Lakers were down 18 points against the Utah Jazz on Sunday night, it looked like they were about to suffer their first loss of the season. Instead, Luka Doncic decided to prove why he's one of the best players in the NBA and put up an incredible stat line of 52 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds on 57/44/91 shooting from the field.
Doncic's performance was so good, he made history in a plethora of ways.
Luka Doncic Makes NBA History vs. Magic
After Sunday night, Luka Doncic officially became the fastest point guard in NBA history to reach ten different instances of 50-point games. Not only that, but he also now has the most games ever by a point guard of putting up 50+ points and 10+ assists.
Doncic's accomplishments extend even further beyond that as well; he also passed Wilt Chamberlain and Shaquille O'Neal in all-time 50-point games for the Lakers. That fact in itself is even more astounding when considering that Doncic has only been a Laker since February of 2025.

How Good Has Luka Doncic Been This Season?
Scary enough, Luka Doncic has been struggling to start the season. While he has moments of being an offensive powerhouse, as he was against the Utah Jazz, his first two games of the season weren't stellar performances.
However, with his most recent historic game against the Jazz, Doncic's averages have already changed drastically. After Sunday night, Doncic is now averaging 34.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.0 assists on 46/40/89 shooting from the field.
Rob Gray-Imagn ImagesThe biggest concern right now is that Luka Doncic is averaging 7 turnovers again, totaling 21 of them through three games. He only had four against the Utah Jazz, which is a huge sigh of relief, but he's been racking them up over the past three games.
The most positive piece of insight in all of this is that even though Luka was subpar in his first two games of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers are 3-0 this season. The Lakers are a total team, where multiple members of the roster can pull each other up on a bad night.
When Luka was having an off night against the Warriors or Clippers, players like Walker Kessler were able to lift him up. On Sunday night, when Kessler was having a horrible night, Doncic was able to have a historic night and lift his team to a win.
At the end of the day, Luka Doncic is the leader of the Lakers, and what he did on Sunday night is the perfect example of why.
