Ziare Williams is one of the newest additions to the transformed Los Angeles Lakers, having been signed to a one-year, $2.85 million contract in July, and a big part of any new player's time with a team is getting to know their new teammates, and it's safe to say that Williams is impressed with what he's seen. 

Looking at the Lakers, it's easy to see which player would make the strongest first impression and that's the player who's going to have the biggest role on the Lakers for the foreseeable future: Luka Doncic.

The Slovenian superstar is firmly in the driver's seat of the Lakers now with LeBron James off to Philadelphia and Doncic has taken his leadership role seriously. 

Not only has Doncic undergone his own impressive physical transformation and looks like he's ready to do some serious damage to the league next season, but Doncic has also taken his task of uniting his team, which has seen some serious turnaround of the roster with nearly the entire starting five and bench being first-year Lakers. 

The clearest example of Doncic's leadership is the team-bonding and training trip to Doncic's home country of Slovenia that he took the entire team on earlier this summer, and the way he's conducted himself over the summer as the figurehead of the franchise has left a big impression on Williams, who likes what he's seen so far. 

“I can tell leadership. He wants to step up even more this year," Williams said (via OC Register). "I’m really excited to play with him. And of course, when we’re playing basketball, it’s just he makes the game just so easy and looks so simple. He’s going to make my life a lot easier for sure.”

Doncic has been one of the NBA's best players for years now and he took his talent to it's greatest height yet last season when he won the league's scoring title while averaging 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. 

With how well-rounded Doncic has proved he can be and the gravity that he creates to draw defenders toward him as the biggest threat on the floor, the roster around him has a real chance to shine. It's a great sign that Williams has been so impressed with the way that Doncic can help his teammates, but the leadership aspect of Williams' praise is the most exciting. 

Los Angeles is firmly in the Doncic era now and the steps he's taken to connect with and elevate his teammates already shows he willing he is to embrace that role. 

Doncic has led to teams to greatness before, as he showed during his time with the Dallas Mavericks, and now that he's older, wiser and settled in to his new surroundings with the Lakers, Doncic looks fully prepared to lead the Lakers into a new phase of greatness.
