Reported Reason for Luka Doncic Missing Multiple Games Revealed
Dec 7, 2025 2:00 PM

Luka Dončić will be away from the team to celebrate becoming a father for the second time.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been without their star point guard Luka Dončić for two games now, but the reason behind Dončić's absence is as good of a reason as there can possibly be.

Dončić reportedly returned to his home country of Slovenia to be with his fiancée Anamaria Goltes and attend the birth of their second child, Olivia!

Dončić, 26, and Goltes, 27, share one daughter already, two-year-old Gabriela, and their second child was born Thursday, Dec. 4. Dončić was initially ruled out for the Lakers' trip to play the Toronto Raptors for "personal reasons," which have been revealed to be for his family.

How the Lakers Will Fare While Luka's on Dad Duty

In his absence, Austin Reaves took off for 44 points and 10 assists to further prove that the guard from Arkansas has insane scoring potential on his own, that's only magnified by Dončić's presence, not diminished by the lack of his fellow member of the back court.

Dončić will naturally be putting his family first at this time and does not have a clear timeline for his return to the Lakers.

While the Lakers will certainly welcome back their superstar when he's ready to return, the team has proven that the efforts of Reaves and LeBron James are enough to hold them over until Dončić makes his way back.

The Lakers are 4-2 this season without Dončić in the lineup, though with two tough games against the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs coming up, Los Angeles will still have to dig deep with the possibility of their superstar being absent for those games.

Dončić's Hot Start

Dončić has been on fire this season, his first full season as a Laker. In 16 games this season, Dončić has averaged 35.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game while shooting 47.8% from the field.

His name has been in MVP talks all season, and he's only made his case for the award stronger as the season goes on and the Lakers continue to play like one of the premier teams in the NBA.

He's fully settled in as a Laker after the shocking blockbuster trade that sent him to Los Angeles from the Dallas Mavericks, the team he's said multiple times he thought he would be with forever.

It's Dončić's revenge season, and whenever he's able to make his return to the court, he'll be doing it with his newest and tiniest fan cheering him on.
