Rui Hachimura has a funny reaction to seeing Anthony Davis again.

The Los Angeles Lakers took on the Washington Wizards on Monday in a game that was about as competitive as one would think, given where both teams are in the standings.

The Lakers won with ease, 120-101. They led for nearly 90% of the game and had a 30-point lead at one point.

Though Luka Doncic didn't play as he was serving a one game suspension for picking up his 16th technical foul of the season, the Lakers still had plenty of star power with LeBron James and Austin Reaves taking the court.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards were without 2024 second overall pick Alex Sarr, rising star Bilal Coulibaly, and former All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis.

Anthony Davis?

Yes, Anthony Davis. He plays for the Washington Wizards. Even Rui Hachimura was confused.

Speaking after the game, Hachimura was asked how it was to see Davis again.

"It was funny. During the timeout, I was looking at the bench and I saw AD. I as shocked. [Laughs]. I was like, 'Wait.' I totally forgot about it. I went to say hi to him. I was happy to see him," said Hachimura.

Hachimura said that he wishes his former teammate well in Washington. Hachimura played for the Wizards from 2019-2022 before he was traded to the Lakers until Davis was traded.

Just over a year from the shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, the Mavericks traded Davis to the Wizards.

On February 5, the Wizards dealt Davis in exchange for Khris Middleton, Marvin Bagley III, AJ Johnson, a 2026 first-round pick (via OKC), a 2030 protected first-round pick (via GSW), and three second-round picks.

Davis On The Wizards

Perhaps it was strange for Hachimura to see Davis on the Wizards bench because no one has seen Davis in a Wizards jersey.

The 2020 NBA Champion has yet to play a game with the Wizards, and it is unknown if he will suit up for his new squad this season. When the Wizards acquired him, he was sidelined with a hand injury suffered on January 8 in a game against the Utah Jazz.

Officially, Davis is dealing with severe ligament damage in his left (non-shooting) hand. He was expected to be sidelined through the end of March. If he is unable to return to the court this season, fans will have to wait until next season to see Davis in Washington.
