The Orlando Magic will look to build on a momentum-shifting win against the Miami Heat when they host the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

The Orlando Magic finally got back in the win column after defeating the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

The victory improved the Magic to 4-0 over their division rivals this season and snapped a four-game losing streak in the process. Now, they return home to host the Toronto Raptors who, at 29-20, own the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

After Friday’s shoot around, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley talked about what worked against the Heat and how they can utilize it against the Raptors.

“Yeah, I think for what we did against Miami, it was very important to take care of the basketball; show what we're capable of doing,” Mosley said. “But it was a great test for us and a great situation for us to be in in that game.

To go against a team similar in Toronto who plays exactly the same way — They try to turn you over, they do a great job with active hands, they mix up the defenses — so, you've got to be aware, you've got to be alert of everything that they're doing and be smart and play together the right way.”

The Raptors have three players averaging over 18 points per game: Brandon Ingram (21.7), Scottie Barnes (19.4) and RJ Barrett (18.8). Immanuel Quickley is also adding nearly 17 points per game. As a result, Mosley understands what kind of offensive threat this poses.

“Yeah, having guys that can score at different levels,” he said. “You've got to make sure you understand, one, the game plan and how you take that away, take away their strengths. And then the second piece is shrinking the floor.

We got to make sure we tighten that pain up and guys aren't getting downhill. So, it creates these open closeouts for them and them getting easier early looks.”

The Magic will once again be without Franz Wagner, who is set to miss his fifth-straight game after dealing with a setback in his left ankle following his return to Orlando’s lineup during its European circuit after missing 16 games due to a high sprain in that ankle.

“He's going to go through some work at post –shoot around,” Mosley said. “He didn't go through shoot around, so he's going to go through some post- shoot around work.”

In his absence, one player who has had additional responsibilities added to his plate is rookie Noah Penda, who has handled the moment with grace despite the big stage and some first-year growing pains.

“Yeah, he's been a pro all year. Staying ready when his number's called, getting the treatment, getting his work done, all those things have come into play.

So, I really think that just communicating with him to just continue to do the things he's been doing, taking care of his body, getting his treatment, resting when he needs to rest, but he's done a great job.”
