From coaching vacancies to Jonathan Isaac’s financial future, NBA insider Bobby Marks navigates the high-stakes maneuvers required to solve Orlando’s looming luxury tax crunch and roster reorganization.

ESPN NBA front office insider Bobby Marks has outlined a series of pivotal decisions facing the Orlando Magic as they navigate a transition in leadership and a looming luxury tax crunch. Following the dismissal of Jamahl Mosley, the organization must balance the pursuit of a veteran head coach with the financial reality of a roster that is rapidly becoming one of the league's most expensive.

Marks highlighted that while the search for a new coach takes center stage, internal contract negotiations and cap management will dictate the team’s ability to improve. From the extension eligibility of rising guard Anthony Black to the delicate handling of Jonathan Isaac’s non-guaranteed contract, the Magic front office faces a summer defined by fiscal precision and roster consolidation.

With the expectations of reloading into a winning season, the pressure lies with the front office of the Magic and president of basketball operations to set the team up for success.

Here are the key decisions the Magic need to make this offseason:

1. The Head Coach

With Jamahl Mosley out, the front office is seeking a voice that can push this roster past the first-round plateau. Lead candidates include Billy Donovan, who has a history of being "anti-rebuild" and wants a ready-to-win roster.

2. Anthony Black’s Extension

Black is extension-eligible this summer. He showed significant growth this season, averaging 15.0 PPG and shooting a career-high 45%. His negotiation will be tricky given the massive money already committed to the backcourt.

3. The Jonathan Isaac Situation

Isaac has $14.5 million on his contract for next year, but only $8 million is guaranteed.

Prediction: He is likely to be waived and potentially stretched over seven years to save cap space and get the team closer to tax relief.

4. Free Agents & Bench Depth

Moritz Wagner: Unrestricted free agent.

Jamal Cain: Team option; provided reliable minutes in the playoffs.

Jett Howard: Fourth-year option was declined; he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
