The Orlando Magic will soon hire a new head coach, and it will mark one of the first major shifts in the career of Paolo Banchero.

The Orlando Magic are undergoing a major organizational change with the firing of coach Jamahl Mosley. Now, it will be on the front office to nail the next hire.

It also means that, for the first time in their NBA careers, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs will have to adapt to a new voice and a new system.

Recently, Don Strouble of Roundtable Sports talked about this transition on the Full Court Magic podcast.

"This will be the first time that Paolo is playing under a new coach, and the same could be said for Wagner and Suggs," Strouble said. "But, you know, Paolo, he is the face of this franchise, right? Like, he is, for all intents and purposes, the number one option. Now, obviously, if he's out and Wagner and Bane are in, or someone's struggling, you know, that's rotating on any given night.

"But the de facto face of the franchise is Paolo Banchero," he added. "And so, it's going to be interesting to see, you know, him, for the first time in his NBA career, this is going to be a new challenge. Same for Franz, same for Jalen. They're going to have to learn a new system, and they're going to have to learn how to mesh with a new coach that is looking to help elevate this team to the next level, right? And so, all of those habits that were instilled in them, all of the work that was put in with Mosley to help elevate this team from the gutter, now it's time for that kind of dramatic shift."

Mosley was hired to be the Magic's head coach in July 2021, which came ahead of the rookie seasons of Wagner and Suggs and nearly a year before the drafting of Banchero.

"And so, that's going to be a challenge for these guys," Strouble said. "It's going to be a challenge for Paolo, because he's going to have to continue to be a leader for this team, and continue to play his best basketball to show that, 'yes, I am the face of this franchise. I am capable of getting us to the next level.' And we've seen Paolo be a playoff riser, but in these playoffs, we also seen him shrink. And, you know, he wasn't the only one.

"So, you know, whoever this new coach is, it's going to be on them to adjust to that, just like it's going to be on Wagner and Suggs, barring any sort of drastic trade or, you know, blockbuster trade that sees one of those other two guys go. But, Paolo is truly, in my view, right now, just in terms of, like, the contract and everything else, I would say him and Franz, like, one, one-A, but Paolo is truly the number one untouchable option on this Magic roster. Like, he's not getting moved, at least not right now."
