The Orlando Magic are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and will look to continue their momentum against the Atlanta Hawks, who have also surged recently with a nine-game winning streak.
As the Magic prepare for the tough road matchup, Jalen Suggs and Desmond Bane met with the media pregame, emphasizing the importance of playing their style of basketball while maintaining effort and consistency.
"Expectations thinking wise going into it—we know it's head-to-head two win streaks same thing that was going on last game,” Suggs said. “So coming out tonight to test the will: can we be mentally strong, mentally prepared through fatigue? Both dealing with the same thing. So who can come out and play harder and be more detailed through all of that stuff? And I think that'll be the winner. So good challenge for us."
"Two teams that are playing really well,” Bane added. “They're a good offensive team. They're playing really well on the defensive side of the ball too. So we got to come with the right mentality, right approach tonight."
For the Orlando Magic, the start to the season was slow and, at times, concerning. Rumors even surfaced about potential locker room issues and leadership changes. But winning has a way of quieting those conversations, and that has been the case during the Magic’s recent surge. After winning seven straight, Bane credited the team’s offense for clicking on all cylinders.
"I think we're moving it a lot better,” Bane said. “We got pretty good role definition right now. Tristan being in the starting lineup, he's a connector. Makes shots, moves the ball. Jalen suggests catch and shoot threes, attack the paint, get others involved, and Wendell does what Wendell does. So I think that it's really allowed for Paolo to be Paolo, me to find my spots and be able to do what I do. So I like the way we're flowing right now, for sure."
"I think just our organization will be huge,” Bane added. “Give Miami credit—that zone they played really threw us off a pivot. But it hasn't just been that game. It's been other games and I say it all the time: those moments are great practice for us. So I think just building upon our organization will help us win on a long winning streak."
