Inside Desmond Bane's Comments Following Buzzer Beating 112-110 Win Over Pacers cover image

Bane dissects clutch offensive execution and a renewed paint dominance in their thrilling buzzer-beating victory.

On Paolo Banchero's game-winning bucket:

"No doubt. We drew it up. I was coming off a pick and roll and they stayed high up the floor. I swung it to Dell and Dell got it to AB. Paolo had it with six, seven seconds left and he had been dominating in one-on-one situations all night. Getting to his spots for mid-range jump shots, getting all the way to the rim, getting fouled. So big time player, big time play. Huge play. I thought he played tremendous. He continues to find his legs and he's playing great basketball."

On the team's 70 points in the paint:

"It's a lot. I think that's our MO. We got so many guys that can put pressure on the rim, touch the paint. We didn't have it falling from outside tonight, but we still found a way to manufacture points and put pressure on their defense."

On responding to the rebounding challenge:

"I thought it was huge. That's been our Achilles heel in some of these losses that we've had, not being able to secure and finish possessions. And today we secured possessions especially when it mattered and that's the difference between winning and losing in this league."

On handling officiating/frustration with calls:

"I think we got to show a little more maturity. As a whole, every guy on the roster was chirping back, asking for certain calls. Once we understand the way the game's going to be officiated and kind of how it's going, we just need to kind of ride with that instead of trying to change it or beg for something. That's definitely something that we need to work on and we'll continue to get better at as the season goes on."

On battling through back spasms:

"I feel crazy for sure. But we're playing at home just coming off a tough loss. So had to be out there and I'm glad we were able to get a win."

On Jalen Suggs' return:

"He's a difference-maker for us on both ends of the floor. He can make plays with the ball, can facilitate, defend other team's best perimeter player. So he definitely helps us."

On having kids from his camp at the game:

"We consider ourselves family. We're all super close and I'm glad that they were able to make it and be here for the game tonight. I'm excited to get out there and chop it up with them and spend some time with them."
