On his message to the team after the tough loss:
"We got to be better in the beginning part of the game. Can't have lapses. It came down to those last four plays essentially—last three plays—but prior to that, give up offensive rebound, small things within the game cost it down the stretch. But we just have to be better. Our communication down the stretch—I think you got to give Lakers a ton of credit there for continuing to battle back and fight and gave themselves the opportunity as well."
On the ending and the final play:
"They did a hell of a job sprinting to the basket. They took two with him. We didn't bounce back out fast enough to get to Canard and he was able to step back and knock down the three. Communication was stay connected, physical reroutes without fouling, get him inside the line."
On the offense stalling in the fourth quarter (only 17 points scored):
"The game slowed all together. I think on both sides of the ball it slowed down. They scored 23, you know what I mean? And without that last shot, it changes, but at the end of the day, the game slowed down, trying to find the matchups, trying to find situations where we could find what we needed, get the shots we wanted. But again, it comes down to those last plays. Yes. But before that, there's a lot of things we could have cleaned up much better. Them having 14 offensive rebounds is a start there—50-52 points in the paint, 19 fast break points. I think those are big keys that we can clean up down the stretch, but it does come down to those last plays, but prior to that, we can be better."
On how the team needs to handle when the game slows down (a recurring theme where offense stalls):
"We don't want to turn into a rat race down the stretch. So you've got to make sure you're executing the plays that we need to. Down the stretch, I think we got a couple great looks—some didn't go down. But at the end of the day, we put the matchups that we needed. That's exactly what the Lakers did as well. We put ourselves in the position to, but then down the stretch, we've got to make sure we're being physical as best as we can without fouling. And then we got to make sure we're communicating in all of our coverages and what we're doing. That's just where we got to continue to get better and grow from that."
On moving past four straight losses, especially after a tough one like this:
"You move past it. There's no other way. You face your reality that you didn't get this game done. We didn't get it done. We gave ourselves the opportunity to get it done. We did not do that. And so now you've got to go and find a way to get the game on Monday."
On Jamal Cain and Jevon Carter stepping up from the bench to help keep the team in it:
"They did a very good job being aggressive—attacking the basket, moving, defending. I think all those little small pieces are big for us for our bench to be able to step up and step in to give us a spark when needed. There was a lull early on and I think they did a very good job of pushing the pace, getting attacking downhill, sharing the basketball and stepping into shots with confidence."
