The Orlando Magic handled the Chicago Bulls on Friday night to continue their winning streak.
The Orlando Magic routed the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, 127-103 for their fifth-straight win, below were the key contributions in another victory:
Franz Wagner’s 25 Points
In his fifth game since returning from injury, Franz Wagner looked like himself again.
Wagner scored a game-high 25 points on 8-13 shooting from the field and 3-5 shooting from 3-point range. The effort comes after he scored 17 points on 7-13 shooting in a 132-120 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday in Orlando’s final regular season home game.
It is still a process for Wagner as he works his way back, but physically, he is in a good place.
“I feel pretty good,” he said. “Continue to work my way back. It's not perfect yet, but we'll get there.”
Wagner also logged 23 minutes in the win, his highest mark since returning to the floor.
“Yeah, it's pushing yourself for sure,” Wagner added. “But it's definitely more fun than doing rehab, so I'll take it.”
Jamal Cain’s Big Night
Another catalyst in Orlando’s latest victory was forward Jamal Cain, who notched a season-high 20 points on 9-11 shooting from the field and 2-4 from 3-point range in just under 25 minutes of play.
Cain believes that since the season started, most of his growth has come from beyond the arc.
“I would say my 3-point shooting,” Cane told the media. “I'd say that was one of the areas I wanted to focus on the most.”
Cain also praised his teammates for providing him with an opportunity to get quality looks on the offensive end.
“Like I said before, just my teammates,” he said. “They bring so much attention that I'm just wide open every time, and I just gotta make the shot. But just playing hard, just sprinting the floor, trying to make my teammates' life easier, just trying to make the extra hustle plays.”
Facilitation
The Magic were able to dish out 18 first half assists, but they also committed 10 turnovers. By the second half, they were able to clean up their mistakes and log 15 assists while only allowing four turnovers.
After totalling 33 assists, Wagner talked about the importance of the Magic addressing their ball security.
“I think once we controlled the turnovers a little bit, I thought we got good looks all game,” Wagner said. “And that helped us play a little bit better defense.”
The Magic will visit the Boston Celtics on Sunday for the final regular season game. With a chance to win out on the line, Cain knows how important the matchup is.
“It's still a lot on the line,” he said. “Win a basketball game, or do whatever we gotta do to win a basketball game.”
