The Orlando Magic are having a solid season thus far, yet there is room for improvement. After a cold start, the Magic have climbed back up the Eastern Conference standings. However, their stars have been injured this season. Paolo Banchero recently returned to the court following a ten-game absence and Franz Wagner will miss the next two to four weeks with an ankle sprain. Orlando may be interested in trading for another player to help keep this rotation afloat with all these injuries.
Bleacher Report released an article, predicting one trade for every franchise if the deadline was today. The Magic's trade is an under-the-radar move that could help the team's shooting.
Magic receive: F Corey Kispert
Wizards receive: F Jonathan Isaac, G Jase Richardson and two 2028 second-round picks (ORL's own and via LAL or WAS)
"Orlando has really leveled-up its offense (11th), but proper spacing remains a nightly struggle," the article wrote. "This is a bottom-third perimeter shooting team by any measure. With this roster otherwise ready to win right now, the Magic would surely welcome a sharpshooter if they could find one. Kispert shouldn't be the hardest one to land as a 27-year-old role player on a rebuilding team going nowhere soon. This would be really early to cut ties with Richardson, this summer's 25th pick who has shot it well in limited action, but the Magic might be good enough to justify prioritizing the present. The need for more shooting is that pressing, and Kispert has the touch and talent to address it."
Orlando's perimeter shooting has long been the team's biggest issue but their offense has put the pieces together throughout this young season. Kispert is well-renowned for his perimeter shooting and could drastically help this unit. This season, he is shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. Kispert is also under contract through the 2028-29 season.
Isaac was recently highlighted in a Bleacher Report article as their most likely trade candidate prior to the deadline. His contract guarantees make it easy to part with and it makes sense to move on from the longest-tenured member of the roster. However, moving Richardson this early into his career may cause some reluctance. He has performed well in his limited role and with Jalen Suggs' injury history, Orlando may prefer Richardson to stick around as a backup and spark plug off the bench.
