The Orlando Magic are one of the younger teams in the NBA. The team has been consistent with their draft picks over the past few seasons. Players such as Anthony Black, Tristan da Silva and Jase Richardson have proven their worth in the rotation. Black, especially, is in the midst of a breakout campaign. Now, the Magic have the opportunity to add another young player with potential using their upcoming second-round draft pick.
Bleacher Report released their updated two-round mock draft. In their projection, Orlando holds the No. 48 selection and selects Iowa State Cyclones forward Milan Momcilovic. The 21-year-old's pro comparison is Utah Jazz forward Svi Mykhailiuk, a journeyman who has specialized as a shooter over the past couple of seasons.
"Milan Momcilovic has reached a level of shooting accuracy that puts him in a tier that helps teams think NBA specialist potential," the article wrote. "Through 14 games, he's hit 58 threes on 56.3 percent, looking comfortable releasing off screens, handoffs and his own dribble. Though not a projected creator at the next level, he's still shown useful shotmaking diversity for scoring off post-ups and pull-ups. A lack of versatility and concerns over Momcilovic's defensive projection could keep interest from blowing up. He does have more steals this year than he had all last season, however, and in the second round, teams are looking for value over upside."
Momcilovic is helping lead the Cyclones to an incredible season thus far. Iowa State sits at No. 2 inside the top 25 rankings with an impressive 16-1 record. The forward is averaging 17.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists while shooting 54.6 percent from the field. Momcilovic, a junior, was a four-star recruit. He was named Mr. Basketball of Wisconsin before his collegiate play, a coveted award handed to the best high school player in the state of Wisconsin, Momcilovic was also named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team in 2024.
If Momcilovic joins Orlando, he would presumably slot into a role similar to da Silva or Noah Penda as a strong forward who could shoot at an efficient rate. He would be a good fit with the Magic.
