The Orlando Magic don't really dominate social media that often outside of Paolo Banchero highlights and speculation.
But the latest tweet from their admin would catch the attention of pretty much anyone on social media. The Magic page tweeted a thread of their young players, captioning it, "Addicted to these young men."
A questionable heading to say the least, setting social media ablaze.
You'd have to imagine the Magic social media team was intentionally trying to troll to elicit such a significant reaction.
The comment section was flooded with a mix of accusatory statements and hilarious memes.
Regardless, the excitement reflects the current state of Orlando basketball. The Magic are gearing up for their most anticipated season in over a decade, with championship expectations in a diminished Eastern Conference. The additions of Tyus Jones and Desmond Bane strengthen the weakened backcourt, giving them a true point guard to facilitate and a 3-point shooter to help on the perimeter. With a revamped offense and a strong defense, Orlando is anticipated to make a deep postseason run.
If they do go far, their social media team will need to find some better ways to encapsulate their enthusiasm, though.
JEFF WELTMAN TALKS NEW ACQUISITIONS, INJURY UPDATES
Entering his ninth season at the helm of the Orlando Magic’s front office, president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman is more excited than ever before.
Speaking to reporters during Monday’s media day at AdventHealth Training Center in Orlando, Weltman expressed his elation for the upcoming season.
“I’ve never been more excited since I’ve been here,” Weltman said. “I feel that we have a team that’s capable of accomplishing big things.”
After an injury-riddled 2024 campaign culminated in a first-round exit, Weltman expressed the front office’s plans to enter the offseason with a “win-now” mindset. Not long after, the Magic made a blockbuster trade for Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane. Subsequently, they acquired Tyus Jones, one of the league’s most efficient guards with the ball in his hands.
The resigning of franchise cornerstone Paolo Banchero and veteran big man Moritz Wagner added to Orlando’s successful summer.
“Everyone is coming with the right mindset, everyone is together,” Weltman said. The vibe in the building has been really exceptional the last couple of weeks.”
Moving forward, Weltman is cognizant of the injuries the roster has endured and how injuries to players like Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum have produced questions about the landscape of the Eastern Conference. However, he is not letting it dictate his mindset.
