The Orlando Magic are coming off blowout victories against the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves
It was something the Orlando Magic hadn't experienced for weeks.
The Magic are coming off big victories against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks. They won both games by an average of 33 points, including a 39-point victory.
The Magic are hoping it can lead to some much needed momentum entering the postseason.
"We ain't had back-to-back blowouts in I don't know how long," guard Jalen Suggs said. "It feels amazing to be able to come in, be efficient, empty the bench, make sure everybody gets some PT. Close ones are nice. They're still wins, but these feel way better. We've got a lot of practice in those close games, which has been nice. But this is another level of growth as well, coming out and being super solid through three quarters, and in the fourth quarter staying efficient, getting the bench involved, keeping the vibes high and go finish the game. I think it's been really good for us these past two."
The Magic are tied with the Miami Heat for the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are trying to avoid the Play-In tournament. The Magic have to keep wins coming because the Heat have won eight of 10, including five straight.
Orlando feels it can keep the momentum alive long as it continues to play solid on the defensive end.
"Yeah, I think it's so important for us," Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said. "They played last night as well and obviously they were down bodies just the same. But the reality is for us that we've got to know that we have to keep hanging our hat on the defensive end whether that shot is falling or not. Our guys trusted it. You can see the energy that was provided. Us being able to protect the rim, trying to keep them out of the paint, getting out to shooters, all those little things that we talked about during the scouting report, these guys followed through on."
The Magic return to action Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Kia Center. The Cavs hold the No. 3 seed in the conference.
