The Orlando Magic finally ended their four-game skid with a win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday, and Anthony Black had a big part in making it happen.

The Orlando Magic finally broke their four-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 133-124 win over the Miami Heat; improving them to 4-0 over their rivals in the Southeast Division this season.

Paolo Banchero led the way for the Magic with 31 points, but Anthony Black also made a tremendous impact.

Black scored 26 points on 57% shooting and added seven rebounds and five assists. After the win, he talked about how crucial it was for Orlando to get back on track.

“Super important,” Black said. “Having lost four in a row, it's never a place you want to be, but we did a good job responding. We knew this was a must-win game. And I think we just did a good job coming out ready to play.

We came out aggressive on both sides of the ball. And I think we set the tone early.”

Despite the Magic’s collective struggles, Black’s ascension has been incredibly positive for the group. Through 46 games, the 22-year-old third-year guard is averaging 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists to go along with 1.4 steals; all career highs.

For Black, the leap he has enjoyed this season can largely be attributed to his aggressive mindset.

“Yeah, I mean, just my coaches and teammates telling me we're a better team when I play that way. So, just trying to do that as much as possible within the flow of the game; just realizing my size, knowing I'm going to have a matchup disadvantage most of the time, just going up strong, trying to dunk it, get fouled.

And then if I need to pass out or adjust to a layup, then that's something I feel comfortable doing.”

After back-to-back abysmal shooting nights from the perimeter in losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Magic finally started to convert their shots on Wednesday; knocking down 42.1% of their 3-point attempts and 50% of their field goals overall.

Black and his team realize that when shots are not falling, it is important to stay consistent and not let it affect collective confidence.

“I think we did a good job just playing all 48 minutes the same way with aggression,” he said. “The ball was popping; different dudes were shooting the ball. We were getting good looks in transition; good stops.

So, I think we did a really good job today playing with a lot of intent and just moving the ball around and everybody being super aggressive.”

Now that Orlando is back in the win column, Black understands that he and his teammates need to carry over what they did right in the win while simultaneously addressing points of weakness.

“I mean, just watching the film back, realizing things that helped us, cleaning up the things that we need to clean up: Probably fouling; finishing possessions. But I think it's a lot of good things we did today on offense that we can look at and maximize going forward.”
