The Orlando Magic are rolling, and coach Jamahl Mosley knows what is working for his group.

The Orlando Magic will look to extend their winning streak to eight games when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night in the first game of a back-to-back that features the Oklahoma City Thunder at home on Tuesday.

Before the game, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley talked about what his team has done well.

“Yeah, I think our attention to detail defensively,” Mosley said. "I think we've done a very good job there, knowing personnel, understanding how we're guarding. But then there's a resiliency within the games, just finding ways to win.

“Different guys stepping up in different moments, us being able to push the pace because it starts with our defense getting out and running.”

Like Orlando, Atlanta is on its own win streak of nine-straight games. To find success against the Hawks, Mosley knows it starts with limiting turnovers and making the most of transition opportunities.

“Yeah, we gotta take care of the basketball,” he said. “They do an incredible job of turning teams over. They've been like number one defensive team since All-Star break. They push the pace, getting those steals, getting those stops to get out and run.

“So, we've got to do a great job of one, taking care of the basketball. And then two, just getting back in transition, because they're looking to push it, make or miss.”

In addition to their winning streak, the Magic are 10-3 since returning from the All-Star break. According to Mosley, it served as a good reset.

“I think it was big for everyone. I think being able to come back with a different mindset, knowing you had a certain amount of games on the back end.Knowing what we need to do, where we were prior to the ups and downs of the season, with guys being in, guys being out, injuries, whatnot.

“Whatever the case may be, it was great for all of us just to be able to obviously spend time with our families, and just to reset, like you said, and then be able to hit this back end running.”

Mosley also attributed recent success to an understanding of roles.

“I think that guys get a little comfortable knowing where they're going to come in the game, come out of the game. Right after All-Star break, we had a certain lineup that was available, and then guys went down, and so then we had to stick with a different lineup. And once that lineup was solidified, guys knew exactly when they were coming in the game; out of the game.

“And it's different when you have minutes restrictions, guys bumping in, trying to get guys rhythm. And now that that has kind of passed a little bit, guys know exactly what they're expected to do when they step on the floor.
