Fresh off a dominant G League stint, the veteran forward joins Orlando’s training camp roster to provide floor-spacing versatility and much-needed perimeter efficiency for the developing squad.
The Orlando Magic have signed veteran forward Kevin Knox II, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced Wednesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed per the press release.
The Magic also waived Ace Baldwin Jr., Ricky Council IV, Jarron Cumberland and Au’Diese Toney, bringing the team’s training camp roster to 20 players ahead of the start of camp Sept. 29 at the AdventHealth Training Center.
Knox, 27, spent last season with the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League, where he averaged 22.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 26 starts. He shot 41.2 percent from three-point range and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line.
The 6-foot-8 forward was originally selected by the New York Knicks with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He has appeared in 320 career NBA games, including 77 starts, with the Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors.
Knox has averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17.5 minutes during his NBA career.
He also brings significant G League experience, averaging 23.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 49 career games while shooting 40.8 percent from three-point range.
This three-point range and versatility could be a helping factor for the Magic this season as they potentially look to improve production and efficiency from three-point range.
Knox played one season at Kentucky, starting all 37 games as a freshman in 2017-18. He averaged 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists and was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Year alongside Collin Sexton. He also earned first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman honors.
Knox will wear No. 24 with the Magic, according to the press release.
With the addition of Knox and four roster moves, Orlando now has 20 players heading into training camp, including three players on two-way contracts.
The Magic's current roster consists of Paolo Banchero, Desmond Bane, Goga Bitadze, Anthony Black, Malaki Branham, Jamal Cain, Jevon Carter, Wendell Carter Jr., Colin Castleton, Tristan da Silva, JD Davison, Jonathan Isaac, Kevin Knox II, Alex Morales, Izaiyah Nelson, Noah Penda, Jase Richardson, Jalen Suggs, Nikola Vučević and Franz Wagner.
Orlando will open training camp on Sept. 29 at the AdventHealth Training Center as the team prepares for the 2026-27 season under first-year head coach Sean Sweeney.
