The Orlando Magic have a chance to win their first playoff series in 16 years on Friday.

The Orlando Magic will try to close out the Detroit Pistons on Friday when they host them for Game 6 of their first-round playoff series.

The Magic hold a 3-2 lead after falling in Game 5 in Detroit on Wednesday, 116-109, despite a 45-point performance from Paolo Banchero. Ahead of Friday’s game, Desmond Bane spoke with the media about the significance of it.

"I mean, we got to come out and set the tone," Bane said after Friday morning’s shoot around. "You know, I'm sure our fans are gonna be great. I'm excited to play in front of them. You know, come out and play hard. We're the team that we've been, you know, throughout the series, I think it'll be just fine."

Bane scored 18 points in Wednesday's loss, and he talked about what he noticed without Franz Wagner on the court after he was ruled out following a calf strain he suffered in Game 4.

"I mean, we changed the way we defend a little bit, but more than anything, it was offensive rebounds, you know, that really hurt us," Bane said. "You know, in the games we won, we controlled the paint, and we didn't do that. So, I mean, it was a reflection on us, for sure."

Despite the loss, Bane and his teammates are confident heading into Friday’s pivotal matchup.

"I mean, we were right there, you know, on the road," he said. "You know, had our chances. That's all you can ask for. So, yeah, we're definitely confident and excited to play at home tonight."

Through the wins and the losses, this series has offered many learning lessons for the Magic. Now, they have a chance to respond and win a playoff series in front of their home crowd, which would be their first since 2010.

"Yeah, I mean, I think that's the playoffs, you know, mentally and physically," Bane said. "Like, can you handle, you know, the toll? You know, winning games, losing games, playing well, not playing well, home road, all that. You know, so I'm excited for the challenge, and I think that our group's ready to make it happen."

It has been a physical battle of attrition between two hard-nosed defensive teams, and the Magic have been successful when they impose their will, both in the opening minutes of a game and in the crucial closing minutes.

"I think that both of these teams thrive off of physicality and, you know, setting the tone with the way you play," Bane said. "You know, and generally, like, the way you come out, it says a lot about, you know, how ready you are to play. You know, and we gotta be the more ready team."

Given the different scenarios the Magic have experienced throughout the season, Bane feels that they are poised for whatever the moment offers.

"Yeah, I mean, I think that we've done it in a few different ways throughout this series and throughout the course of the season," he said. "You know, we've been in a lot of close games over the course of the season, and, you know, we feel very comfortable, you know, whether up or down.

"So, we're confident."
