Bitadze reveals team's growth, championship mindset, and the vital return of key players after a crucial home victory.
On the team's growth in closing out the game after a strong second half:
"I think it shows our growth. We lost a couple of those games earlier in the season where you're supposed to win on paper, but those are trap games — that's what we call them. Today I think we did a good job. There were some moments at the start of the third where it could have been going the other way. They came out hot, knocked some threes down, but I think we stayed together, trusted each other. We made extra passes for teammates. We had 32 assists. We just got to keep doing that. We have two more games and it's really important. We got to get those and I think we will. We'll be in a good spot. We got to take care of business."
On the buzz in the locker room after winning four in a row with two games left:
"It's been a rough season with a lot of ups and downs, but I think a huge part is the coaches. Obviously we are the ones on the court, but coaches have done a great job staying positive. You can't get down on yourself and bring that negative energy, but they haven't done that at all. Mo has been nothing but positive the whole season. Shout out to them also because it's a tough season — a lot of injuries, a lot of ups and downs. We lost a couple bad ones, but we stayed positive and I think we have a good chance right now.
Obviously you never want to leave it up to the other teams for them to decide where you're going to be, but this is where we are right now and we have to take care of business. Wherever we're going to be, I think we like every matchup to be honest. I think we can go with anybody. Nobody wants to see us in a seven-game series. That's how we feel. We got to prove it obviously, but we got to take care of business and wherever we end up, go from there."
On having Franz Wagner and AB back and the lift their presence provides:
"They're our main guys. Whatever they do on the court, it helps — no matter if they're having a bad game or whatever it is. Even them being on the bench, giving us little advices on the bench and them talking and hearing them and seeing them in a jersey is huge. We are really, really happy and it's just like you don't want to get super excited because it's been injuries the whole season. Obviously guys can't control that. It's been rough, but we're super happy to have them back."
On his strong performance (14 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists) in a critical game:
"I think Mo and everybody here knows what I'm going to do. Maybe I'm not going to have a great game numbers-wise. Every time when you have inconsistent minutes and role, it's hard to stay consistent. So I think everybody around here knows that I'm going to keep working no matter if I don't play or not. I'm going to bring that positive energy. Today was one of those nights where some things go your way — numbers-wise — but the most important is that we got the win. If we don't get the win, it means nothing. Numbers don't mean a lot. I was just playing hard and happened to have a good night and I'm super, super, super happy that we won the game."
On his pick-and-roll chemistry with Desmond Bane and other ball handlers:
"Usually he don't pass. But all I can do is keep rolling. He's a scorer, so whenever he finds me or throws the lobs — I'm like one step behind. I'm joking. He's a great player. He can go both ways, go left, go right. It's super easy to play with him. You just got to set good screens. He sets up his man really nice and teams have been playing him super aggressive, denying him top lock and it's hard for him. So all I'm trying to do is free up some space for him. Whenever he finds me, he finds me. If he don't, I go for a rebound and try to make it easy for him. But he's a great player. It's easy to play with him."
