The Orlando Magic have an interesting schedule next season, and some games hold more weight than others.

The Orlando Magic are set to have an interesting 2026-27 season, and more was revealed about what is in store for them when the schedule was released on Thursday.

The Magic will suit up against the NBA's 29 other teams at least twice this season, and some games will be accompanied by more implications than others, thus raising their level of importance.

So, what games might be the most important in this long 82-game slate? Because it is such a long season, I will break this down into two parts: the first and the second half of the campaign.

Oct. 25 at New York

Some may disagree about the third game of the season being significant, but there is some merit to this.

The Magic will visit the defending NBA champion New York Knicks on Oct. 25, and while that game will not serve as ring night, the fans in Madison Square Garden will still undoubtedly be riding high from being the champs. Therefore, Orlando has a chance to spoil the fun.

Let us also not forget that the Knicks beat the Magic in the Emirates NBA Cup semifinals last season, so the latter has a chance to get a little revenge. Plus, it will be a chance for new head coach Sean Sweeney to get a quality win in a raucous environment early in his tenure, while also tasting a bit of revenge after the Knicks beat him and the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals when Sweeney was an assistant.

Nov. 18 vs Philadelphia

The Magic only faced LeBron James twice a year for nearly a decade because he was residing in the Western Conference as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Now that he is back in the East as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, they will get to play against him a little more.

On Nov. 18, the King and his new group of men will visit the Magic. The last time James was inside the Kia Center, he set a record by playing his 1,612th regular-season game, and Luke Kennard hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to rip the hearts out of the Magic and their fans.

Moreover, before James was a member of the 76ers, Orlando fell to them in the NBA Play-In Tournament, 109-97. It was a brutal game for Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, and now they have a chance to show they can hang with an even better version of this 76ers team.

Nov. 24 vs Detroit

Last but certainly not least in this list of the most important games of the first half of the season is the Magic’s NBA Cup game against the Detroit Pistons on Nov. 24.

This will be the first time the Pistons are back in Orlando since Game 6 of the first round of the 2025 playoffs, an evening that is the stuff of nightmares for Magic fans. In that game, they watched their team squander a 24-point lead in the second half and miss 23-straight shots.

Orlando’s collapse led to a decisive Game 7 in Detroit after the Magic held a 3-1 lead in the series, and the Pistons completed the comeback to move on, and the Magic’s playoff series drought extended to 16 years.

The game against Detroit will be the final game in the Group A stage of the Cup, and not only do the Magic have a chance to get back at the Pistons, but it will be the highest-stakes moment they will have that early in the season.
