Coach Dusty May treats this finale as a dress rehearsal, potentially debuting Dallas native Marcus Sasser alongside the anticipated star pairing of Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving.

Hometown guy Marcus Sasser figures to make his Dallas Mavericks' debut on Friday night at the AAC when his team plays host to the Atlanta Hawks in this NBA preseason finale.

Coach Dusty May has suggested that this game might be a "dress rehearsal'' of sorts for the regular season, and that would seem to mean that we will get to see Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving in action - a duo the Mavs hope is worth the price of admission all year long.

Said May: “This will be the closest to a regular season game that we’ll play just based on availability. We’re going to play more of a regular rotation, with the exception of a few guys who will probably still be out.”

And somewhere in the mix, too, could be Sasser.

The Mavs acquired Sasser from the Detroit Pistons this summer in a six-team trade. ... but he's been unable to go so far this preseason due to injury.“

It’s been up and down, but overall it’s been good,” said the Dallas native following Thursday’s practice, via Mavs.com. “I’ve still been around the team a lot learning the offense, defense. I’ve still been on the court getting my shots up, so I’ve been good.

“My mama and family are really excited to see me out there. I’m going to have a good crowd out there for sure.”

What can the 6-1 Sasser bring to the table?“

Just the intensity that I bring, the energy, the dog mentality,” Sasser said. “On the defensive side changing the game, pushing the pace and being able to space the floor (and) play-make. Just being me.”
