The 10-year anniversary of the NBA's City Edition alternate uniform concept sees Dallas return to a design that was inverted last season.
Reputable jersey archive NBA Uniform Tracker on X is confirming a previous leak that the Dallas Mavericks are bringing back their gold and white "pegasus" city edition jerseys for the 2026-27 season, the 10th anniversary of the concept with Nike and the NBA.
The rumor first said the uniforms would resemble the ones worn during the COVID-impacted season in 2020.
Last season, the Mavs' city uniform was an inverse, with a dark charcoal gray with shiny blue striping matching the design base of the original Pegasus jerseys.
"Dallas’ nickname, 'Pegasus City,' didn’t come out of nowhere," the NBA wrote for the launch of last year's design. "In 1934, a giant red neon Pegasus was installed atop the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Rotating 450 feet high and visible for miles, it became a symbol of hope, progress and the city’s energy while standing watch over downtown Dallas as it grew.
"The 2025–26 Mavericks city edition honors that legacy. Neon-blue wings soar across a black sky, while 'Dallas' appears in classic Greek type - a tribute to Pegasus and the city’s spirit on game night."
As seen in the picture above, Mavs fans will reminisce on superstar Luka Doncic donning the white and gold jerseys, but many fans have found comfort in the vision of Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg fitting the aesthetic.
According to BasketballJerseyArchive.com, which cited the leak, the Mavs will join in the rest of the league by wearing iridescent Nike swooshes on the front of the City Edition uniforms, honoring the 10th anniversary of the alternate jersey program with Nike in the 2026-27 season.
While some Mavericks jerseys in their city edition history have been duds (such as the graffiti-inspired neon design from 2019-20), the jerseys symbolizing Pegasus have been received with admiration since they were debuted in the 2020-21 season.
The Mavs will debut their partnership with JPMorganChase with a uniform advertising patch this season. Worn across the Association, Icon, Statement and City Edition jerseys, the Chase logo is expected to be displayed in blue or white, depending on the contrasting base color.
The uniform is fitted with the slogan "Legacy is Everything" below a silhouette of the Dallas skyline near the distributor's patch.
