The Dallas Mavericks' greatest player of all time is Dirk Nowitzki, and he was a big part of revolutionizing the game.
A lot of big men nowadays attribute the reason they shoot threes to the German legend, and now it seems like every player can step outside the arc and knock one down.
And Dirk can say that he played a role in the NBA becoming a shooter's league.
But another player that has suited up for the Mavericks just passed Nowitzki on the all-time three-pointers made list.
In a 122-109 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, Denver Nuggets shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. passed Dirk for 20th on the all-time threes list.
The two actually played together for 19 games after Hardaway Jr. was traded to the Mavericks from the New York Knicks as part of the trade for Kristaps Porzingis.
It was made in Dirk's last year in the league in the 2018-19 season, so the veteran shooting guard was able to be teammates with the all-time great, albeit for a short time.
It also goes to show how long Nowitzki was in the league, because he also played with Tim Hardaway Sr. The legendary point guard played 54 games with Dirk and the Mavs as a backup for Steve Nash in the 2001-02 season after a sign-and-trade deal.
But back to Jr., he was a pillar of consistency in his six seasons with the Mavericks, averaging 15 points per game and shooting the leather off the basketball.
Something that some NBA fans might not realize, Hardaway Jr. is fourth in Mavericks history in both three-point makes and attempts, which goes to show just how good he was at his job to do that in just six seasons.
The Mavs said goodbye to Hardaway Jr. in a deal that sent him to the Detroit Pistons as part of a package for Quentin Grimes, who the team later traded as well.
Despite being 33 years old, he is still averaging 14 points per game, and could continue to move up the all-time threes list for as long as he is in the league.
