In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz, he gives a final grade to every NBA team when it comes to their rookies. And for the Mavericks, he gives them a quite obvious A+.
Cooper Flagg has been the centerpiece, and his debut campaign has felt anything but typical. Rather than easing into the league, he immediately took on major responsibility and delivered.
His scoring ability has drawn the most attention, but it’s his all-around game that has truly separated him. Flagg contributes across the stat sheet, impacting possessions as a rebounder, facilitator, and defender.
The 19-year-old phenom finished the year averaging 21 points, just under seven rebounds, and 4.5 assists. And past the stuff that shows up in the stats, his ability to fill in as the team's point guard with Kyrie Irving out for the season was absolutely invaluable.
While Flagg definitely drew most of the spotlight, he wasn't the only rookie making a difference. Ryan Nembhard emerged as a key contributor in his own right, providing stability in the backcourt.
