DALLAS — Zaccharie Risacher stood at his locker holding a Dallas Mavericks jersey with No. 10 on the back, the same number he wore for two seasons in Atlanta.
Cooper Flagg got to him first. Max Christie and P.J. Washington followed.
The Mavericks posted video of the greeting to their X account Monday afternoon with the caption "Welcome home."
Dallas acquired Risacher on July 19 in a three-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Mavericks sent Ryan Nembhard to Atlanta and a 2027 second-round pick, originally Chicago's, to Oklahoma City. Atlanta sent Dallas a top-55 protected 2027 second-round pick along with Risacher and sent second-round picks in 2031 and 2032 to Oklahoma City. Luguentz Dort went from Oklahoma City to Atlanta.
Risacher's $13.8 million salary for 2026-27 was absorbed into the $20.8 million trade exception created by the Anthony Davis trade in February. Roughly $15.6 million of that exception remains, and the full $15 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception is still available.
Atlanta took Risacher first overall in the 2024 draft. Through 142 career games and 119 starts, he has averaged 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
As a rookie, Risacher played 75 games and started 73, averaging 12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 24.6 minutes. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team. He scored at least 30 points four times that season, including a career-high 38 against the Brooklyn Nets on April 10, 2025.
Last season, Risacher started 46 of his 67 games. His playing time decreased to 22.4 minutes per game, with averages dropping to 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. During Atlanta's six-game first-round playoff loss to the New York Knicks, he appeared in 23 minutes out of a total of 288.
Dallas carries 16 players on standard contracts and has to be at 15 by opening night. The forward group also includes Washington, Santi Aldama, Naji Marshall, Caleb Martin, and ninth pick Morez Johnson Jr. Flagg, the reigning Rookie of the Year, averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals for a team that finished 26-56.
Masai Ujiri was hired as president of basketball operations on May 4. Mike Schmitz came in as general manager, and Mavericks coach Dusty May was hired out of Michigan on June 23.
Risacher represented the French senior national team at EuroBasket 2025 and has participated in World Cup qualifiers since then. He secured a silver medal at the 2023 FIBA Under-19 World Cup and a bronze at the 2022 FIBA Under-17 World Cup.
Dallas has until October 31 to decide whether to exercise Risacher's $17.4 million team option for the 2028-29 season.
