Rookie sensation Cooper Flagg speaks out on the Mavericks' struggle for rhythm and cohesion, revealing the growing frustration behind their recent losses.

Frustration continues to build for the Dallas Mavericks, and rookie star Cooper Flagg didn’t shy away from addressing it after another difficult loss.

In a 123-99 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks, Flagg recorded yet another strong individual performance, finishing with a double-double despite the lopsided result. This marked his 12th time accomplishing that feat in his impressive rookie season.

But it was evident in the postgame interview that Flagg, as well as the rest of the Mavericks, are growing frustrated with their recent struggles.

"It’s tough. We just don’t have any rhythm," Flagg said. "At the end of the day, it’s tough when nobody is in good flow, good rhythm, guys aren’t on the same page... It’s not gonna happen overnight, so it’s gonna take a lot of coming together, fighting for each other, and growing in a lot of areas. I think if we’re able to come together and find a little bit of rhythm, it’ll make it easy for everybody."

Dallas has now lost two games in a row, as well as eight of their last 10 contests. The disconnect that Flagg is referring to is evident when you take a look at the assist numbers, as they had 18 assists to Milwaukee's 28. The Mavs' leading passer was Ryan Nembhard, who finished with only four assists.

The Mavericks’ roster has been heavily impacted by injuries this season, forcing constant adjustments and limiting continuity. That instability has made it difficult to build the kind of on-court chemistry needed to compete consistently, something that has shown up in both defensive lapses and offensive stagnation.

Still, Flagg’s leadership—especially as a rookie—has become a bright spot. His willingness to fill in at the point guard spot at times with Kyrie Irving out has been something not many thought he would be able to do when he was drafted.

But time and time again, the rookie from Maine has exceeded expectations.

As the season winds down, Dallas remains focused on development and long-term growth. For Flagg, that means continuing to produce while also helping bring the team together. If his comments are any indication, he understands that the next step isn’t just about talent—it’s about alignment.

And until the Mavericks find it, results like the one in Milwaukee may continue to follow.
