Giannis on the block? Dallas could eye a superstar mentor for Cooper Flagg in a blockbuster deal.

The NBA trade deadline is coming on February 5, and after months and months of speculation, it sounds like the Milwaukee Bucks are going to be active.

Per a report by ESPN's Shams Charania, the 2021 NBA Champions are actively listening to trade offers on their franchise player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

There have been rumors that the Greek Freak was growing frustrated with the franchise for what seems like forever, and now those rumors actually have some ground to them.

The Bucks are currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with an 18-27 record, which is a bit weird considering that Giannis is averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and just under six assists.

Hence the reason that the Greek Freak might be looking for a new zip code in the next week or so.

As much as making a blockbuster move could give Dallas Mavericks some PTSD, they could be one of the teams who could at least consider trading for Giannis.

According to BetOnline, the Mavs currently have the eighth-highest odds to land him, but it is really all speculation at the moment due to the recency of the news.

The last time the Mavericks made a huge move was one of the biggest trades in NBA history that saw Luka Dončić being sent to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. The team might want to distance themselves from that trade, so one thing they could do is using AD as a part of their potential package.

Either way, Dallas is focused on Cooper Flagg as the face of the franchise for the foreseeable future, and getting a player like Giannis to be a mentor to him could be something for the team to seriously consider.

Flagg is just 19 years old, while the Greek Freak is in the middle of tone of the greatest primes ever, where he has been named an All-Star nine times. He has also been crowned MVP twice, and hoisted the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2021.

So what better mentor for a player who could be one of the faces of the NBA than someone who has been in that role for the majority of his career?

If the Mavericks decide to be active at the trade deadline, making a blockbuster move  for one of the best players in NBA history could be something for the team to at least consider.
