Tarik Biberovic was not the headline name in the Santi Aldama trade, but his shooting profile and EuroLeague experience make him an intriguing piece for Dallas.

The Mavericks acquired the draft rights to Tarik Biberovic as part of the Santi Aldama trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. The 25-year-old wing was originally selected 56th overall by Memphis in the 2023 NBA Draft and has spent his entire professional career with Fenerbahce, one of the top clubs in world basketball.

On the DLLS Mavs Podcast, Marc Stein reported that Biberovic is actively pushing to make it to the NBA this season. The front office is working through all options on his path to Dallas.

The production earns him serious consideration. Biberovic averaged 12.6 points per game in the Turkish Super League this season on 49.8% shooting from the field and 49.7% from 3-point range on 5.4 attempts per game across 34 games. Those numbers hold up at any level of professional basketball.

He also contributed 15 points against Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague semifinals as Fenerbahce went on to win the championship in May 2025. His numbers in both competitions place him well above the typical second-round stash prospect who spends years developing overseas without generating real NBA interest.

The contractual situation is the obstacle. Biberovic signed a three-year deal with Fenerbahce in July 2025 despite significant interest from Memphis at the time. The Grizzlies held his rights before Dallas acquired them in the Aldama trade. Getting him to Dallas this season requires negotiating a buyout or another agreement with Fenerbahce, which is why Stein noted all options are on the table.

Nothing about this path is straightforward, but the fact that Biberovic is actively pushing to get here rather than waiting out his contract in Turkey changes the dynamic considerably.

His profile fits a real need, Dallas ranked near the bottom of the league in 3-point shooting last season. The roster around Cooper Flagg lacks shooters who stretch the floor at an elite level. Biberovic maintained similar efficiency in EuroLeague play against the best competition Europe has to offer. At 6-foot-7 with the ability to play on or off the ball, he fits the wing profile Dusty May has built his offenses around at every stop in his coaching career.

The roster needs shooting and Biberovic wants to be in the NBA this season. Whether Dallas gets him here before opening night depends on what both sides work out with Fenerbahce over the coming weeks.
