The Dallas Mavericks earned their first win in their last 10, beating the Indiana Pacers, on Sunday, but traveling to New York City after the game in time for Tuesday's matchup with the Brooklyn Nets has been an issue due to the winter storm affecting much of the Northeast.
At the moment, the Mavs' meeting with the Nets remains scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. CST tip-off at Barclays Center.
Earlier, Dallas had a home game postponed due to wintry effects that made for dangerous travel conditions across the Southern part of the U.S. in late January.
Dallas stayed in Indianapolis an extra day following the Pacers game, which allowed the team to get an extra workout in at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, home of the Butler University Bulldogs.
It was an opportunity for Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg to get back on the court and continue rehabbing his midfoot sprain suffered before the All-Star break. He has already been ruled out for the Nets game, which will be his fourth in a row dating back to before the break.
Head coach Jason Kidd gave an update at the Mavs practice on his top rookie.
"Coop did his stuff. Did his workout. He looks good. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow," Kidd said Monday to our colleague Grant Afseth.
Flagg hasn't suited up since Feb. 10 when he logged 36 minutes against the Phoenix Suns on the road, dropping 27 points and grabbing five rebounds. He hit 11 free throws against the Suns in that game, the second-most in a game for the Rookie of the Year frontrunner this season.
Through 49 games played, Flagg has continued to up his production as a budding two-way star. He's averaging a team-high 20.4 points to go with 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 48 percent shooting from the field.
In four games in February, Flagg has averaged 27 points per game on nearly 57 percent true shooting.
He'll likely make a return to the lineup soon, but it won't be welcomed with much contending games remaining on the Mavs schedule.
Dallas sits at 20-36 on the year with 26 games remaining. Sitting 12th in the Western Conference, the upcoming schedule does lighten up over the next week, with Brooklyn (15-41), Sacramento (13-46) and Memphis (21-35) on the docket.
