Chicago Buries 20 From Long Range to Bury the Nets cover image

Brooklyn disappeared on the three-point defensive end in taking the Sunday night loss.

The Brooklyn Nets, not the Los Angeles Rams, ended up getting buried in the Windy City.

Except the latter team needed to brave the inclement snowy weather. The Nets watched threes raining down in front of them.

The Chicago Bulls, a Friday loser against this same Nets team, knocked down an astonishing 20 baskets from behind the arc -- leading to the 124-102 rout of the Nets inside the United Center.

Both teams shot the same percentage from three-point land at 43%. Except Brooklyn nailed 16 compared to the Bulls' high number.

Egor Demin sparked the scoring early by banking a 23-footer to set the tone for the Nets. But Coby White answered by nailing a 24-foot basket.

Danny Wolf followed by hitting a 25-foot running jump shot that made it 6-4 early in favor of Brooklyn. Except White came back to swish a 28-footer to put Chicago ahead 9-6.

Terance Mann threw down a driving dunk to cut the Bulls lead at 11-10. But that became the closest the Nets got in the first quarter -- as Chicago exploded with a 10-2 run. The Bulls closed out the opening period leading 39-22.

Tyrese Martin scored the first basket for Brooklyn in the second quarter with a 25-foot three. Nic Claxton and Nolan Traore added the next four points to cut the lead at 41-29. Cam Thomas then made a step back 17-footer to make it 43-33 in favor of the host team.

Chicago started to pull away before halftime...increasing the lead to 70-48 featuring a Tre Jones reverse layup. Demin got the last basket in from 25 feet to end the half down 70-51.

The Bulls outrebounded Brooklyn 44-38 and also grabbed more steals (eight) compared to the Nets (four). And while Chicago became lights out from long range, the Nets were pummeled in the paint too in getting outscored 58-40 there.

Michael Porter Jr. originally was thought of as a potential impact player for this contest. Even amid some trade chatter. Six different Nets players hit double figures in his absence.

Nolan Traore led with 16 off the bench. Jalen Wilson added 14 points also from reserve duty. Wolf led the starters with 14 on his end. Claxton completed a 12-point contest. Demin and Martin finished with 11 points apiece.

Cam Thomas scored just three points -- but dished out 10 assists. Clowney led Brooklyn with eight rebounds and blocked two shot attempts.
