The Brooklyn Nets took a rest period to close out February. But the recharging period came during a crucial Saturday involving their NBA Draft hopes.
Sacramento may appear to be the frontrunner to claim the top pick in the June NBA Draft Lottery. But the May 10 selections could still swing toward the Nets' way.
Brooklyn already took advantage of significant draft capital by landing Egor Demin and Nolan Traore as part of its five-person rookie class. But now fans are envisioning AJ Dybantsa of BYU coming over.
But Cameron Boozer of Duke rose as a potential Nets target after taking down Michigan last Saturday. Did both deliver more stellar outings in the final regular season weekend for college hoops?
Which other draft prospect is linked to Brooklyn? Time to recap how each draft prospect fared during this critical Saturday.
AJ Dybantsa stumbles in stunning upset
The BYU freshman sensation dropped 20 points in a span of 39 minutes -- but West Virginia stunned Dybantsa and company 79-71.
Dybantsa lost the basketball four times, raising questions on if he can consistently take care of the basketball.
But what's more astonishing is that he and the Cougars have dropped two straight against unranked foes. All after starting out the season as a Big 12 title favorite.
Cameron Boozer shooting up
Jon Scheyer calls Boozer a tone setter. The freshman has now helped take down two ranked foes in the last two Saturdays.
Boozer delivered the near triple-double in knocking off Michigan. This time he dropped 18 points with nine rebounds in trouncing No. 11 Virginia 77-51.
Boozer is making a strong case to leapfrog Dybantsa as the No. 1 pick. Or at least persuade general manager Sean Marks and head coach Jordi Fernandez to take him.
Darryn Peterson take huge, embarrassing loss
Arizona pummeled Peterson and the Kansas Jayhawks 84-61. And just may have continued to bury Peterson's top pick hopes.
Peterson drew recent criticism for struggling to complete games -- falling into a habit of cramping or dealing with other ailments. Some fans are starting to wonder if Peterson has mentally checked out of games.
He managed to drop 24 points in 31 minutes. But now the new criticism centers on if Peterson can help will the Jayhawks to wins over top five teams...or nationally-ranked teams in general.
