Nets Hit New Season Low Mark in One-Sided Loss to Thunder cover image

Brooklyn hit this mark during the second quarter inside the Paycom Center.

The Brooklyn Nets faced one of their more daunting back-to-back sequences this season: Aiming to shed a 32-point defeat but only to face the defending champs.

The 18-point underdog Nets handed the Oklahoma City Thunder early fits and took a brief lead entering the second quarter. But hit a new season-low in that period that eventually sealed the 105-86 Thunder rout Friday.

Brooklyn settled for just 10 points in the second -- now tied for the fewest points scored in a quarter this season per Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.

Ochai Agbaji even started the second with the first basket of the period through a free throw. Drake Powell then added one basket from the white stripe. Day'Ron Sharpe scored the non-free throw by throwing down a slam dunk.

But the Thunder were up 38-28 after Sharpe's throwdown. Michael Porter Jr. and Egor Demin became the last members of the Nets to score before halftime arrived.

OKC, meanwhile, outscored the Nets 29-10 during the second which ignited the loud decibel levels inside the Paycom Center -- arguably the loudest venue in the NBA.

Brooklyn managed to redeem itself scoring wise after the half by outscoring the Thunder 34-27. Sharpe started the third by hitting a two-pointer. Nolan Traore followed by banking a 24-footer with 10:34 left. The rookie later came back to hit a six-footer to cut the lead to 57-40. Traore and Sharpe scored the next four points with the former hitting both from the white stripe.

But the Nets struggled shooting wise again during the final period -- settling for only 19 points to close out the evening.

Porter led the way with 22 points for Brooklyn. Traore scored 17 points on the champs. Sharpe, who got the start with Nic Claxton still out, emerged as the last Nets player to reach double figures by scoring 12.

Rookie Danny Wolf led the bench production with eight points. Jalen Wilson scored five points. Powell and Agbaji each produced four points apiece. Terence Mann tacked on three points.

The Nets now drop to 15-40 overall while also claiming sole possession of the projected No. 4 seed in the NBA Draft Lottery.
