The Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards both enter Monday night’s matchup at 2-0 in the preseason. With Michael Porter Jr. and Day’Ron Sharpe expected back, Brooklyn could get another look at its lineup while trying to extend its winning streak.

The Brooklyn Nets will look to extend their preseason winning streak Monday night when they travel to Washington to face the Wizards. Both teams enter the matchup 2-0 after winning their first two games.

Brooklyn opened the preseason with a 124-90 win over the Charlotte Hornets last Tuesday before beating the Philadelphia 76ers 114-108 on Thursday. Washington has beaten the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons, setting up an early preseason matchup between two teams that have gotten off to strong starts.

The Nets and Wizards will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on Monday night.

Brooklyn has gotten production from several players through its first two games. Michael Porter Jr. led the team with 16 points against Charlotte, while Julius Randle added 13 points in his first preseason appearance with the Nets. Nolan Traoré also finished with 10 points off the bench.

The Nets will have a healthier roster against Washington, with Porter Jr. and Day'Ron Sharpe both returning after sitting out Thursday's game. Porter Jr. missed the matchup with left wrist soreness, while Sharpe was sidelined by left shoulder soreness.

Their returns will give Brooklyn more options as it continues preparing for the regular season.

Mikel Brown Jr. and Joshua Jefferson will remain out Monday, leaving the Nets with just two unavailable players, both of whom are rookies.

Brown has made progress in his recovery from an ankle injury and practiced fully over the weekend. The sixth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft also participated in a five-on-five session Monday morning. Although he will miss the matchup against Washington, he is expected to make his preseason debut Wednesday against the Miami Heat.

Jefferson's status remains uncertain as he continues to work toward making his first preseason appearance. The rookie forward has missed Brooklyn's first two games.

Washington has had a productive start to the preseason, too. The Wizards opened with a 111-109 win over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Thursday before pulling out a 114-108 overtime victory against Detroit on Saturday.

The Wizards had a balanced scoring effort against Detroit. Will Riley and Tre Johnson each scored 15 points, while AJ Dybantsa added 14 points and seven rebounds. George also finished with 14 points.

Saturday's game marked the preseason debut of third-year big man Alex Sarr, giving Washington another opportunity to evaluate its frontcourt rotation.

The Wizards will be without Tristan Vukcevic, who is dealing with a hip injury, and Jamir Watkins, who has a knee issue. Davis is also out for rest. Khris Middleton, who has yet to appear in either of Washington's preseason contests, remains out.

With Porter Jr. and Sharpe back, Brooklyn will have a better opportunity to see how its rotation fits together against a Washington team that has also started the preseason unbeaten. Randle has already shown what he can bring offensively, while Dëmin and Traoré have given the Nets encouraging performances in the backcourt.

Washington has won two close games so Brooklyn could have a competitive matchup on its hands.

Monday's game will be Brooklyn's final road preseason contest before Wednesday's matchup against Miami. With Brown expected to make his debut against the Heat, the Nets will look to keep their winning streak going while getting their roster closer to full strength ahead of the regular season.

Tip-off against Washington is set for 7 p.m. ET.
