The Brooklyn Nets took an 11-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks. That defeat occurred on a pivotal college basketball night, especially involving some notable Nets draft targets.
So how did the likes of AJ Dybanta (BYU), Cameron Boozer (Duke), Kingston Flemings (Houston) and others all fare as the Nets fell? Here's a dive into it.
AJ Dybantsa goes off
The freshman remains the projected top overall pick. This despite the recent thought of coming back for one more season in Provo, Uta.
Dybantsa shared the floor with a fellow potential top pick Kingston Flemings. The BYU star dropped 26 points for the Cougars.
Except the other Cougars took the 73-66 victory in the Big 12 Conference Tournament.
Kingston Flemings inching close to Big 12 title
Flemings' effort has Houston looking at a possible No. 2 seed once the pairings are made official for the field of 68 on Selection Sunday. He's now leading last season's national title game runner up.
Dybantsa scored the most points, but Flemings hit 17 points in the Houston win.
Flemings grabbed two steals on defense and pulled down four rebounds. He lost the rock only twice against the other Cougars.
Cameron Boozer delivered 'off' night?
The Duke freshman rose as a potential top pick candidate for the Nets. More so for dominating the previous No. 1 ranked Michigan Wolverines.
But Thursday looked like an off night for the freshman star. He squeaked out 23 points, but his top-ranked Blue Devils suffered a scare, surviving Florida State 80-79.
Boozer wasn't even the leading scorer on the night. Guard Isaiah Evans took that title by scoring 32 on a feisty and upset-minded Florida State team. But Boozer struggled with ball security in the win, losing the basketball an astonishing five times on turnovers. He didn't produce a block either.
Boozer still recorded the double-double by getting 10 rebounds. Yet again, he and the Blue Devils survived a big scare against a red-hot FSU team.
Meanwhile, Caleb Wilson of North Carolina is one more potential contender for the Nets should he enter the NBA Draft. Except he once again sat out for the Tar Heels' tournament game. His UNC team fell 80-79 to Clemson and now must await its March Madness fate.
