The Brooklyn Nets have officially set their path to the 2026-27 season, announcing a four-game preseason slate highlighted by a Barclays Center matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers that could feature LeBron James' first game in a Sixers uniform.
The Brooklyn Nets have officially announced their preseason schedule for the 2026-27 season, giving fans their first look at the team's exhibition slate ahead of what will be an exciting new era in Brooklyn.
The Nets will play four preseason games this October, beginning with a road matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Brooklyn will then return home for its lone preseason game at Barclays Center, hosting the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, Oct. 8 before closing the exhibition schedule with road contests against the Washington Wizards on Monday, Oct. 12 and the Miami Heat on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The full preseason schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, Oct. 6: at Charlotte Hornets (7 p.m. ET)
- Thursday, Oct. 8: vs. Philadelphia 76ers (7:30 p.m. ET)
- Monday, Oct. 12: at Washington Wizards (7 p.m. ET)
- Wednesday, Oct. 14: at Miami Heat (7:30 p.m. ET)
While the preseason is primarily about preparing for the regular season, Brooklyn's lone home exhibition game has the potential to become one of the most talked-about preseason contests around the league.
Barring any changes to Philadelphia's exhibition schedule, the Oct. 8 matchup is expected to be the 76ers' preseason opener, making it the likely first opportunity for fans to see LeBron James suit up in a Philadelphia jersey following his blockbuster offseason arrival. Although the game won't count in the standings, the chance to see one of the NBA's biggest stars make his unofficial debut with his new team would add another layer of excitement to Brooklyn's only preseason game at Barclays Center.
Individual tickets for the Oct. 8 contest against Philadelphia will go on sale Tuesday, July 28 at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster. Season ticket memberships are already available, while single-game tickets and group packages for regular-season home games will be released at a later date.
For the Nets, the four-game preseason schedule will offer the first extended look at a roster that underwent significant changes over the offseason. Fans will get their first opportunity to watch rookie first-round picks Mikel Brown Jr. and Joshua Jefferson in NBA action while also seeing newcomers Julius Randle, Keon Ellis and Moritz Wagner take the floor in Brooklyn uniforms.
The exhibition slate should also allow head coach Jordi Fernández to evaluate different lineup combinations, continue developing chemistry among the team's new pieces and begin establishing roles before the games start to count.
YES Network will once again televise the Nets' preseason games as it begins its 25th season as the television home of Brooklyn basketball.
With the preseason schedule now set, the next major date on the NBA calendar will be the release of the full 2026-27 regular-season schedule, which is typically announced in mid-August. That announcement will reveal Brooklyn's opening-night opponent, nationally televised games and the complete 82-game slate.
For now, the countdown to Nets basketball has officially begun. Brooklyn will tip off its preseason on Oct. 6 in Charlotte before returning to Barclays Center two days later for what could be one of the league's most anticipated exhibition games of the fall.
