Brooklyn Nets fans will soon have a new way to stream local games. YES Network and MSG Networks are moving from the Gotham Sports App to DAZN, marking another major shift in the changing regional sports media landscape.
Brooklyn Nets fans who stream games locally will soon need a different app.
YES Network and MSG Networks announced Wednesday that their live broadcasts will move from the Gotham Sports App to DAZN during the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons, giving Nets fans a new streaming home beginning later this year.
The transition won't happen immediately. Gotham Sports App will continue carrying games until the migration takes place, with the exact timeline expected to be announced in the coming months. Once the switch is complete, DAZN will become the exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming platform for both YES Network and MSG Networks.
For Nets fans, not much will change beyond where they watch games. Brooklyn's local broadcasts will still be available, but they'll now be streamed through DAZN instead of Gotham. The platform will also carry games involving the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres.
Fans who already receive YES Network or MSG Networks through their cable or satellite provider won't have to pay anything extra. They'll be able to log into DAZN using their existing television subscription and continue streaming their local teams. Pricing for standalone subscriptions has not yet been announced.
The Gotham Sports App first launched in 2024 after YES Network and MSG Networks partnered to create a single streaming service for New York-area sports fans. The idea was to give viewers one place to watch multiple local teams instead of switching between separate apps.
While the concept made sense, the app never completely caught on with fans. Many users experienced technical problems or complained about the overall streaming experience, making the platform a frequent source of frustration throughout its two-year run.
Both networks believe DAZN's experience with live sports streaming will provide a better experience moving forward.
"Our new strategic partnership with DAZN reflects the YES Network's continued commitment to elevate the streaming experience for our direct-to-consumer subscribers and TV Everywhere users," YES Network President Jon Litner said in a statement. "DAZN offers a world-class technology platform and elite, live sports streaming expertise."
MSG Networks also welcomed the change.
"We couldn't be happier to offer our fans this opportunity to watch MSG Networks content on their state-of-the-art platform," MSG Networks Senior Vice President of Content and Marketing Kevin Marotta said in a statement. "Coming off a historic Knicks championship season, we are excited to take our streaming offering to the next level."
The partnership is another sign of how quickly the sports media landscape is changing. As more fans move away from traditional cable, regional sports networks have been searching for better ways to reach viewers directly through streaming services. Several regional sports networks around the country have faced financial problems in recent years, making digital platforms an even bigger priority for teams and broadcasters.
For DAZN, landing the streaming rights to some of New York's biggest professional sports teams is a significant addition as the company continues to expand its presence in the United States. Reports have also indicated the company is exploring similar deals with additional NBA teams in other markets.
From the Nets' perspective, the announcement simply means fans will soon have a new place to watch local broadcasts. The games themselves aren't going anywhere—only the app used to stream them is changing. More details about the transition, including when Gotham Sports App users will officially move to DAZN, are expected before the start of the 2026-27 NBA season.
