After a blistering April performance in Brooklyn, the former Ohio State standout heads to Greece to join a star-studded roster featuring Bryn Forbes and the Antetokounmpo brothers.
Former Brooklyn Nets two-way forward E.J. Liddell signed a two-year deal to play for Aris B.C. in the Greek Basket League after a strong showing in April.
Liddell averaged an efficient 18.4 points in the last month of the season. He shot 59.3% from the field, 57.9% from three and 89.5% from the free-throw line, including back-to-back 20-point games.
The former Ohio State Buckeye scored 21 points against the Milwaukee Bucks and 26 points against the Indiana Pacers. Coach Jordi Fernández complimented Liddell and his teammates' efforts for pulling out a six-point victory over the Bucks.
"If you have the right intentions and always try to make the right play, you know, one day you'll miss some shots, but it will even out," Fernandez told reporters after the home win. "It's when the work is there, the work that these guys put every single day, the positive energy, it just ends up working out. So, you'll see performances like this."
Liddell did not play much before April, so his showing in a small sample size impressed Aris B.C. Before playing 29.2 minutes per contest in April, Liddell spent the majority of the season with the Long Island Nets -- Brooklyn's G League team.
He started all 23 games he played and averaged 17.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 49.4/34.6/86 shooting splits. Brooklyn's two-way forward tied a Long Island franchise record for points in a single playoff game in the affiliate's first-round loss to the Osceola Magic on April 1.
The 6-foot-6 forward scored 32 points on 10-for-17 from the field and shot perfectly from beyond the arc (6-for-6). Liddell's performance was heroic, but the Nets fell short, losing 119-117.
Liddell impressed across 48 games between the NBA and the G League. He will play in Thessaloniki, Greece, joining Aris B.C., who lost in the first round of the GBL Playoffs.
Aris B.C. posted an 8-10 record in the Eurocup and a 14-10 record in the GBL. Liddell will play alongside former San Antonio Spurs guard Bryn Forbes, Alex and Kostas Antetokounmpo -- the younger brothers of Bucks' superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The New Orleans Pelicans drafted Liddell with the 41st pick in the 2022 draft. He played eight games in his rookie season due to suffering a torn ACL in his right knee.
After losing most of his rookie year to injury, Liddell signed with the Chicago Bulls the following season. He played 12 games in his sophomore campaign, collecting garbage-time minutes.
Liddell signed a two-way contract with Brooklyn in September 2025 and found his footing with the organization. Now, he has a solid foundation in Greece with Aris B.C. for the next two seasons.
